Enjoy Carnival at Malaga!

This month Malaga celebrates Carnival. The city hosts this celebration since 1504 as a reminiscence of the Carnival of nineteenth century, when royalty and aristocracy enjoyed their own luxurious masked balls, going over Larios street in its ostentatious floats, while the working-class throw them flower petals as their pass.

Carnival in Malaga started on January 31 with the “Gran Gala Carnival”; a burst of creativity, fun and humour where people of Malaga and visitors enjoy the street music, local bands, choirs and costume parades.

But Carnival continues until almost the end of February with several celebrations. Even the shopping malls have schedule all kind of activities. The main Carnival costume contest will take place in Plaza de la Constitución. There will be parades and performances by singing groups in the historic center.

The gastronomic tour is specially recomended for tourists who enjoy tasting new flavours and typical regional recipes. Different bars and restaurants like La Canasta, El Pimpi, The Twins, Lo Güeno or Rescoldo will offer a drink and tapas at a very affordable price.

Carnival ends with the traditional "Entierro de la Sardina" (burial of the sardine), a parade that parodies a funeral procession and culminates with the burning of a symbolic figure, usually a representation of a sardine, at La Malagueta beach.

You still have time to live the Carnival of Malaga at Málaga Andes, in an apartment facing the beach and really well connected to the city center by bus.
